It's May, and what better way to celebrate the end of the month than to say Happy Maintainers month and a huge thank you to all the individuals who maintain and mentor throughout the AsyncAPI. It's time for the monthly community updates; let's dive in.

AsyncAPI Conference 2026

We’re heading to APIdays Amsterdam on the 9th of June, while the AsyncAPI track is happening on the 10th of June. The track is packed with amazing speakers from the community, with a blend of talks that will be presented there. We’ll also have the API Standards Booth there, so if you are attending and need a free ticket for the event, don’t hesitate to reach out. We're also looking forward to seeing some community members there.

For the full agenda and time, please visit the conference website for more details.

Spec x Tooling

We’re very excited that the Arrazzo Spec v1.1 now supports AsyncAPI v3, thanks to the contributions and work of Frank Kilcommins and Naresh Jain. For more details, please read the Arazzo Spec version release blog.

AsyncAPI Maintainership 2026

The AsyncAPI Maintainership Program is now underway, though this year we are doing it differently, without any payment or stipend. We’re happy to have maintainers and contributors who are still interested in the program. Applications are now open and closing this Sunday, the 31st of May. For more details on the timeline and how to apply, please check the discussion.

Community Goals

Sometime last year, while we were busy defining the community goals for 2026, we discussed how best to cut costs in our budget, and one idea was to move the newsletter from Mailchimp to a more affordable service. Thanks to the amazing contributions of Prince Rajpoot, we have successfully migrated the newsletter to Kit and updated most of our workflows.

The work on repo audit and consolidation is underway, and we urge all maintainers to join the discussion and share their thoughts as we progress towards merging some of the repos under the AsyncAPI org.

Lastly, the work for the Working Group cleanup is now complete, and all the community docs have been updated. With only the Community and Conference WG still active, we look forward to having more diverse groups join and leading the work within AsyncAPI.

For more details on the work we’re focusing on this year, please do check out the Community Goals doc.

AsyncAPI Microgrant Program

The AsyncAPI Bounty Program will now be officially renamed to the Microgrant program to better align with the goal we initially set: to redistribute sponsors funds and appreciate maintainers. The previous model has been misinterpreted, and, as such, to reduce spam and better maintain the program's intent, the rename was needed.

We’re currently experimenting and updating the docs, and by July, we will fully adopt the AsyncAPI Microgrant Program name throughout the initiative.

TSC x Ambassadors

Celebrating impact, community, growth, and Maintainership, we’re happy to welcome Mohammed Mehdi as the maintainer of the React component and newest addition to the TSC.
